Mapping challenges in developing sustainable small and medium industries: Integrating Lean and green principles

Purpose: This study explores the complexity of developing a sustainable small and medium industry (SMI) through conceptual model that integrates lean green manufacturing principles.Design/methodology/approach: includes systems diagram illustrates structure interconnected variable interrelationships between goals, inputs, processes, outputs required to achieve system’s goals by using both principles. The uses causal loop logic from thinking based on literature review, multi-actor analysis, observations, focus group discussions.Findings: Combining efficiency benefits principles better environmental effectiveness would help sustainability.
